What a Week

Life has just been insane the past few days. After a nerve-wracking weekend of driving 2000 miles (yeah, you read that right) in two days, I now have very sick children. Actually I didn’t do the driving Scott drove the entire grueling 36 hour trip. But the happy end result of that was getting to see my parents for a bit, and some friends of ours. And, of course, we got the kids back. And they’re worth 2000 miles and 36 hours in a car :p

What I was not prepared for was sick kids. Brennan was congested and actually looked kind of puffy. And the little fellow’s digestive system was obviously not right; going potty was torture for him. He got some good food in him though and seemed to clear that up, look less puffy, and the congestion is gone now.

Asher, on the other hand, started throwing up just shortly after we got home in the wee hours of the morning, and proceeded to keep throwing up over and over. I was finally able to get some liquids in him and I got some chicken stock going and was able to give that to him. He slept most of the day with his head in my lap. By Monday he was up for eating homemade chicken soup and feeling much better.

Cassidy started throwing up in the early hours of Tuesday morning. She is not a very good patient at all and spend most of yesterday huffing and puffing at me instead of sleeping. She only got sick once, thankfully, instead of repeatedly like Asher.

Today she seems to be doing better, though has still been cross at the world. This afternoon she took a long nap and now finally seems more cheerful. Asher and Brennan have both been sleeping hard every afternoon too. I think they’re all exhausted.

I’m hoping we’re seeing the end of this sickness. It’s been really hard with me being exhausted from the drive (Scott kept me awake to keep him awake, heh). I’m also having trouble with eating again, not really wanting anything. I’ve been cooking chicken to be easy on tummies and get lots of chicken stock into us. But I’m tired of chicken as soon as I write it on the menu plan in any week. Much more so after days and days of it.

We’re also missing a huge festival with lots of kids’ activities going on in our town this week :( It’s rough.

Between taking care of sick kiddos I’ve gotten some more pages of the site converted over, but I still have a lot left to go. We’ve also finally started the Pink Kit and I’ve ordered a couple of baby things. And re-started my house organizing after a couple of weeks off. I’ll write more about those things in other posts…
