I know, I know, the post you’ve been waiting for… Our baby is a
BOY!
That’s right, another little man for me
I am excited and Scott is excited. My Cassidy was a bit disappointed – she’d been campaigning hard for a sister. But the ultrasound tech gave her some “baby photos” all for her and I think that helped. We went out on Saturday, just she and I, to do some shopping and she picked an item out for the baby and that got her very excited as well. I think she’ll be ok, especially once the baby is here and she’ll be able to help. She’ll actually be quite a bit of a help because she’s so much older now than when Asher and Brennan were born, and able to do so much more.
Our ultrasound was an extremely pleasant experience. I’d gone back and forth over and over trying to decide if I wanted one. I don’t feel that routine ultrasound is really necessary, and there have been some questions about the safety of ultrasound. There hasn’t been solid proof either way. I knew that Scott would like to find out the baby’s sex but in the end he was content to leave the choice up to me.
I decided I would really like to have it done (though I did waver almost up to the last minute!) – and that I’d be sensible and wait until we could get the most information from the scan. It wouldn’t change my mind about the pregnancy (I would not elect a termination based on results from an ultrasound) – but I thought it would be good to be informed.
Our technician was very warm and helpful. She explained everything we were seeing and everything she was doing. She pointed out a lot of little details to us – like the bridge of the baby’s nose! We got lots of high-quality pictures and a video recording of the scan too.
Overall a great experience. We have a sweet and healthy baby boy. I was awed during the scan (and watching the video again…and again
) to see just how perfect our little baby is already. 10 tiny fingers and 10 tiny toes there already. A perfect little beating heart. Just amazing. Breathtaking. Fearfully and wonderfully made
